TowRiver is a navigation and trip-planning app for the Upper Mississippi and Illinois Waterway. We designed it to need as little of your information as possible.
TowRiver does not collect, store, or transmit personal information. We have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.
If you enable location, TowRiver uses it only on your device to show your position on the river and the nearest lock, bridge, and marina. Your location is never sent to us or to any third party.
To show live conditions, the app fetches public data from U.S. government sources (USACE lock data, NOAA / National Weather Service river and weather forecasts) and from our own service at towriver.app. These requests send no personal information about you. River and weather data are requested by fixed river locations, not by your position.
TowRiver Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple. All payment is handled by Apple under its own privacy policy; TowRiver never receives your payment details.
Some screens offer a link to track a vessel on MyShipTracking. Opening it leaves the app for your browser, where that site's own privacy policy applies.
TowRiver is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
